Library Management System Delplus 2.0: A Ueseful Technique

ABSTRACT:
Computerization of library may be a basic need in today's situation. For computerization, library professionals having problems like which library software is more suitable to our library.
This paper discusses the software Delplus 2.0 which is developed by DELNET (Developing Library Network) & also focused the important modules of that software. Software is an important basic for Computerization the libraries. The success of library Computerization systems is depending upon the features of software application. So it's necessary to possess appropriate software for library operation. Today, an outsized number of software’s are available to computerized the library. They vary from a couple of thousands to a couple of lakhs of rupees depending upon the flexibility, networking & other features. A quick account of DELPLUS 2.0 software package is presented here.

INTRODUCTION:
DELPLUS 2.0 LAN Version has been developed bearing in mind the dimensions and operations of the libraries. DELPLUS 2.0 is meant for all kinds of small and larger libraries. So as to modernize and network the libraries in India, DELNET presents DELPLUS 2.0, then Library Management Software that conforms to international standards and presents its applications during a user-friendly manner.
DELPLUS 2.0 Library Software Package:
Delplus 2.0 is Multi user Library Management Software, developed by DELNET (Developing Library Network), New Delhi that conforms to International standards and present its application during a user-friendly manner. It's designed to cater the requirements of varied sorts of libraries like University Libraries, College Libraries, School Librarian Public Libraries and Research Libraries etc. with a set of up to at least one lakh.

Design and Implementation of Delplus 2.0 Software:

This is the Main Screen of DelPlus 2.0. This screen is used to input the User Id and Password to enter into the DelPlus Software.

Delplus 2.0 comprise & the subsequent modules which support various sorts of function of library:
1. Acquisition.
2. Cataloguing.
3. OPAC.
4. Circulation
5. Article Indexing.
6. Serial Control
7. System Administration.

We will see the brief account of above modules.
1) Acquisition Module:
The acquisition enables library staff to handle the subsequent major functions re lated to acquisition of Library Material i.e.
i) Entry, updation of approval records.
ii) Provision for Approve or reject the actual record.
iii) Provision for ordering or receiving the approved books.
iv) Provision for creating the Accession Register through direct entry or through received books.
v) Updation, Deletion or printing the Accession Register.
vi) Generation of unique Accession Number.
vii)Entry, Updation, Deletion of a vendor record.
Inputs of Acquisition System:
i) The entire information of a book for Approval.
ii) Information required to form the Accession Register.
iii) The knowledge associated with a vendor.
Reports provided: The acquisition Module provides the subsequent Reports
i) Generation of reports of these books which haven't yet approved or rejected.
ii) Generation of ordering Reports - Approved or existing.
iii) Generation of Accession Register.
iv) Generation of Vendor Report.
2). Cataloguing Module:
This Module enables to
i) Catalogue differing types of fabric using different formats i.e. MARC -21format & CCF.
ii) It provides Retro-conversion facility or cataloguing of books coming from Accession Register.
iii) It facilitates deletion, updation, view or making duplicate copies.
iv) Generation of unique Record No.
Reports Provided: This module provides reports of catalogued records.
3). OPAC Module: This module facilitates
i) Individual search by Author, Title, ISBN, Accession No, Subject, Class No.
ii) Boolean Search.
iii) Results are often viewed or printed in AACR-II.
4). Circulation Module: This module takes care of all possible functions like
i) Issue, Return, Reissue, Reservations etc.
ii) Member enquires & maintenance of the status of materials are often handled.
iii) Complex functions like fine Management for every category or users and materials also can be effectively administered.
5)Article Indexing Module: This module enables to
i) Maintain the records of varied articles indexed within the library or collected from outside sources.
ii) Entry, updation and deletion of various articles.
iii) Generation of unique Article Number.
iv) Facility of Article Searching.
v) Facility of Article Indexing.
Reports Provided: Generation of reports of various Articles and Indexing.
6) Serial Control Module: This module provides
i) Entry, updation and deletion of subscription records.
ii) Generation of unique serial Id.
iii) Facility to receive & renew the subscribed serials.
iv) Provision of binding the serials in two alternative ways i'e. for existing serials & other is for brand spanking new bound volumes.
Reports provided: Following reports are generated during this module
i) Generation of receipts of subscription, receiving issues, Bound Volume.
ii) Generation of advice & receiving issue report.
iii) Generation of reports associated with bound volumes.
7)System Administration: This module facilitates
i) Different administrative functions.
ii) Enables the user to Export/Import data into/from MARC format.
iii) Backup & Recovery.
iv) Provision of knowledge Management.
v) Maintaining Budget and keeping track of whole income of a library.
vi) Maintaining the master forms like country, languages, subjects etc.
vii)Stock verification.

Rs. (only paid for one time). Annual Subscription fees is 11,500/- Means any library
can purchase Delplus 2.0 at only
Rs. 16,500/-. Renewal of Member fees is 11500/-.
CONCLUSION:
There are lots of library software’s in the market. But considering its low price and technical support as well as software training facility and user-friendly nature, this is very useful software to not only a smart library but also a medium size of library.
