Therefore, every society has developed a pattern for guiding marriage. Exogamy and endogamy play a vital role in the institution of marriage. Meitei Society permits man and woman to be husband and wife and to have children by involving the right of sexual relation through the institution of marriage. At diverse places and in different stages of human development marriage had been emerged in different forms with elaborate rule, regulation and custom.
