ABSTRACT:
Domestic violence remains a major social issue in India, affecting the safety, health and well-being of women and families. The one stop centres are providing holistic service under one roof. It functions as an important institutional mechanism by providing integrated medical, legal, and psychological support to survivors of violence. The one stop centres were established in 2015, it has a direct influence on the Nirbhaya Case 2012. The present study examines the pattern of domestic violence case reported in Vizianagaram District, Andhra Pradesh, during the years of 2023-2024 through a retrospective review of institutional records maintained at the one stop centre. A quantitative descriptive research design was adopted for this study and the data were analyzed by using frequency and tabulation analysis to understand the socio demographic profile of survivors, types of violence reported, medico legal involvemet, and support services provided. Also, the study examines the need for social work interventions in addressing the complex social, economic, and familial dimensions associated with domestic violence cases reported in one stop centres. The findings show that intimate partner violence accounted for the majority of reported case, along with physical violence being the most commonly documented form. The study highlights the relevance of district level evidence in strengthening One Stop Centre services and emphasises the critical role of social work interventions in prevention, case management, rehabilitation, of the survivors.
