ABSTRACT:
The 21st century is marked by rapid globalization, technological advancement, and complex socio-environmental challenges such as climate change, inequality, and resource depletion. In this context, HEI have emerged as powerful institutions for shaping a sustainable future. The adoption of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) under the Agenda 2030 has further strengthened the role of higher education institutions in addressing global challenges. HEI are not only centers of knowledge creation but also agents of social transformation, innovation, and sustainable development. HEI play a crucial role in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially in the 21st century where knowledge, innovation, and social responsibility are central to development. Their contribution can be understood through multiple dimensions. HEI are not just centers of learning but powerful agents of change. By integrating teaching, research, community engagement, and sustainable practices, they significantly contribute to achieving the SDGs. Their role is indispensable in building a more equitable, sustainable, and resilient world.
